I Homeschooled my Son

I saw the website for the The MorningStar Academy and was immediately envious. I wish there was resources such as this one when I homeschooled my children.

There is a lot of controversy covering the homeschooling world. I homeschooled my children when the world was first introduced to the concept of teaching children at home. There were conferences, but they were sparcly populated, and most of the speakers talked about organizing and baking.

Very few of the textbook companies provided good content. The text books were over priced, with very little value. I had to create most of my content from public sources, and try to ensure that it met the schoolboard standards.

I almost envy today's parents. I didn't homeschool because I wanted to help a student who was behind. My son was - by the school's standards - two years ahead. Unfortunately, there were only resources to help kids who were advanced in Science. My son was advanced in literary and cognitive, problem solving. The school's only option was to put him in the hall, outside the principal's office, with a stack of books.

I would have signed up with Morningstar for their MorningStar's comprehensive, state-of-the-art, multimedia-rich interactive experience. My son is a visual learner. He he could absorb an entire year of university if they put it on video with music in the background. He could study medicine if it were written in a literary form. Unfortunatly, he doesn't do well in the black and white text world of today's school system.

FREE - that is right. I couldn't believe how many of their courses were free, or under $50. I had to pay $200 just for a text book when I first taught my son. Morningschool has a lot of courses that are free.

Now he uses resources such as Morningstar to help him get ready for college. He is getting very little use from High school - He goes to online homeschooling resources to improve his grades.
